April 14 brings ‘A Blooming Affair

 Opening day for “A Blooming Affair at Hamilton Gardens” in Hiawassee will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 14. This date will also be the start of the plant sale days from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Saturday and Sunday until the plants are gone. Rhododendrons and native azaleas will be available at different sizes and prices.

The gardens will be celebrating Earth Day on Saturday, April 21; a “Celebrate the Gardens” benefit will be on Saturday, April 28; Plein Air painting and art sale will be May 5; a Garden Tea and Fashion Show will be May 12; and topping off all these events is a 5K Run/Walk for the Rhodies on Saturday, May 26. 

The 33-acre Hamilton Gardens is located inside the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds on Highway 76 west in Towns County overlooking Lake Chatuge. Easy walking trails take you up close to multicolored rhododendrons, mountain laurel and a variety of wild flowers. There is no admission, but your generous donations are appreciated to continue renovations and additions to this fabulous garden.
