By the end of April, Clay County expects to have recovered about $145,000 in delinquent taxes, Board of Commission Chairman Robert Penland announced at Thursday’s regular commission meeting.
“We’ve had 13 tax foreclosures filed in Clay County,” Penland said. “This is the first time any foreclosures have been filed in Clay County in a number of years. By the end of next week we expect five more.”
Commissioner Robert Peck said county revenues through April 2018 are about 79 percent of what is expected in the budget and expenses are about 75 percent.
“I think we’re moving in the right direction,” he said.
