Hinton gets $425K grant from Duke

Hinton Rural Life Center has received a three-year, $425,000 grant from the Duke Endowment to fund and develop leadership initiatives.

The Duke Endowment grant will be used to develop two leadership initiatives. The first will be for adults — taking a look at leadership styles, effective leadership and how strong leaders can make a difference in the community. The second will be designed for youth. It will have a Christian focus and will guide youth through a process of identifying spiritual gifts and how to be a servant leader for Christ in the world today.

Hinton Center’s pursuit of leadership initiatives began after president and CEO Dr. Jacqueline Gottlieb facilitated a research study on the quality of life in the region in 2016.
