How to keep schools safe
With recent violence on school campuses on almost everyone’s mind, the Clay County Board of Education and two concerned citizens spent the first half hour of Monday evening’s regular board meeting discussing the issue and the challenges it presents.
As soon as the board opened the meeting for public comment, Cameron Green of Hayesville spoke up.
“Is it a policy of the school to see that all exterior school doors are always locked?” she wanted to know. “And are substitute teachers and non-teaching staff given emergency situation training?”
