Job is homecoming for county’s new manager

Newly-installed Clay County Manager Mark Pullium knew when his son, a soon-to-be rising junior at Hayesville High School told him, “Dad, I want to have some of the experiences you’ve had growing up, that I’ve heard you talk about,” it was time to come home.
Pullium has lived and worked from Georgia to Montana, in both South Carolina and eastern North Carolina, but, as he reflected recently, “There’s no place like the mountains of western North Carolina. They say you can get the boy out of the mountains, but you can’t get the mountains out of the boy. It’s true.”
