Lake Chatuge cleanup proves success
On Saturday, Nov. 4, the Hiwassee River Watershed Coalition hosted its annual Lake Chatuge shoreline cleanup in coordination with Georgia Rivers Alive. This year’s event drew 90 volunteers from all four counties that make up the watershed in western North Carolina and north Georgia. Participants collected trash along the shoreline at 12 sites on both sides of the state line. The event resulted in three tons of trash collected, bringing our seven-year total to 9.75 tons of trash removed.
