Phishing scam issues on rise

Computer experts weigh in on trends to bilk users
People around the world are going on phishing expeditions, possibly at your expense.
Phishing, pronounced just like fishing, is a common way cyber criminals commit identity theft and spread viruses.
While they won’t make you physically ill, these viruses are lurking to strike in vulnerable places and infect your online devices. They can do enough damage to make you feel sick, sometimes costing large amounts of money, especially if you are one of the victims.
“Actually, viruses are not the biggest problem now,” Robert Hicks said. “Malware and spyware are the biggest problems.” The owner of Computer Connection warned, “You may pick it up in January, but it may not appear until much later.”
