    The Toyota pickup driven by Charles Lewis Sherrill is unrecognizeable after it hydroplaned on a rain-soaked road and crossed the center line into the path of a work truck. Sherrill died at the scene, according to N.C. Trooper A.J. Gordon.

Weather a factor in Hayesville man’s death

A 40-year old Hayesville man, married with three children was killed in a weather-related traffic accident about 6 p.m. on Tuesday. The accident happened on Highway 64 East in a curve near Old Highway 64.
Charles Lewis Sherrill was pronounced dead at the scene after his 1997 Toyota hydroplaned on wet pavement and spun into the path of an APAC service truck driven by Darrell Long, 45, who was not injured.
North Carolina State Trooper A.J. Gordon said Sherrill’s Toyota crossed left of center line and was struck in the passenger side door by the F-750 service truck, traveling toward Hayesville at the time.
Gordon said Sherrill was pronounced dead at the scene.
No charges were filed and weather was considered a factor in the accident.
Sherrill is survived by his wife, Lisa and children ages 11,4 and 2. Both men were residents of The Ridges subdivision.
Townson Rose Funeral Home is handling arrangements which were incomplete at presstime.
