Accident results in charges
A Clay County woman and her 1-year-old child were treated and released from Murphy Medical Center after the 2004 Ford pickup she was driving overturned on Old Highway 64 west Tuesday afternoon.
Karla Attaway Allison, 34, of Hayesville, was driving the pickup north when she ran off the road, veered to the right in a curve, struck an embankment and overturned, landing on the driver’s side, according to N.C. Trooper Derek Tilley.
“The driver and passenger had to be helped out of the car and received non-life-threatening injuries,” Tilley said.
Allison faces charges of driving while impaired, reckless driving and misdemeanor child abuse.
