Christmas Parade set Saturday

The town square will be filled with the sights and sounds of the season Saturday as the 29th annual Hayesville Christmas Parade ushers in the holiday.
The parade is sponsored by the Clay County Progress. It begins at 6 p.m. and the theme is “A Storybook Christmas.” Local veterans’ organizations will serve as grand marshals.
Folks are encouraged to visit the square early to enjoy traditional sounds of  Christmas during a concert featuring Pastor Chris Rumfelt and family from First Free Will Baptist Church with special guest Annie Lloyd. Singing starts at 5 p.m. and will continue until approximately 5:30 p.m.
At 5:30 p.m. youngsters will enjoy a special treat when their favorite characters hit the street around the town square to greet local children with plenty of candy, hugs and handshakes. Children can expect to see Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Cat in the Hat, Frosty, The Grinch, Scooby Doo, Elmo, Pokemon and Rudolph along with Elsa from the ever-popular “Frozen” movie. The jolly old man in the red suit will make his grand entrance at the end of the parade.
