Residents cautioned not to call 911 for weather conditions

By Lorrie Ross

Winter weather has impacted western North Carolina several times this year, but it is probably not over yet. With the possibility of snow looming again this week, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office shared important reminders. “First of all, do not call 911 about road conditions,” Captain Josh Litchfield urged. “During bad weather, we get an influx of calls for wrecks and things, but when people call 911 for road conditions, it ties up phone lines. If we get unnecessary calls, we can’t dispatch the personnel needed to help those in emergency situations.”
