Conference champs

Middle school boys claim SMC
After a tough regular season that saw the Hayesville Middle School boys basketball team fight their way to a regular season Smoky Conference Championship, the Yellow Jackets had one more goal in mind. That goal was achieved when Hayesville defeated the Andrews Wildcats 58-46 in the championship round of the SMC tournament to become the undisputed conference champion.
The action lived up to the pre-game hype with both teams playing hard from the tip-off. Seventh grader Kolbe Ashe tried his best to set the net on fire as he lit it up with seven 3-pointers for 21 of his 22 points. Jake McTaggart, Hayesville’s big man, had 17 points in the win.
