Matthew R. McCray
Matthew R. McCray, 29, of Hayesville, passed away Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018 at his home after fighting a long illness.
He was born in Cherokee County, N.C. to Phillip and Becky Radford McCray.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandfather on the farm.
Matthew loved fishing and being around his family.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Rev. Raymond McCray and maternal grandfather, Creed Radford; great-grandparents, Andrew and Edna Wike.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his sister, Kimberly McCray Davis; one brother, Brett McCray; niece, Skylar Davis; paternal grandmother, Faye Wike McCray; and maternal grandmother, Frances Radford.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel of Hayesville. The Rev.’s Wayne Matheson, Dallas Crowder, Aud Brown, Calvin Murphy, Kyle Cody and Derek Tilley officiated. Burial was in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dwayne McCray, Glenn Matheson, Ernest Wyke, Jason Hayes and Sam and Joe Radford.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home of Hayesville.
