Brenda Hancock Dyer
Brenda Hancock Dyer, 63, of Hayesville, passed away Monday, Dec. 18, 2017 at her residence. She was a native of Cherokee County, but had lived in Clay County for the past 25 years. Brenda had worked in the nursing field for many years. She was a member of Little Brasstown Baptist Church. Brenda enjoyed spending time with her family and taking trips to the beach. Brenda was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She was the daughter of Bernice Wyke Hancock and the late Charles Hancock, and the wife of the late Thomas G. Dyer, who died July 16, 2016.
Surviving in addition to her mother, are a daughter, Susan Ledford and husband, Tim, of Hayesville; a son, Larry Barton, of Marble; two step-daughters, Tammy Ledford and husband, Marvin, of Hayesville, and Michelle Barnard and husband, Glenn, of Young Harris, Ga; a brother, Harold Hancock, of Peachtree; six grandchildren, Logan and Jon Rickett, Laci and Luke Ledford and Meg and Ethan Barton; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21 in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with Rev. Aud Brown officiating. Interment will be in the Sweetwater United Methodist Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eddie and Taylor Osborrn, Jim Lance, Cecil Lovingood, Larry Martin and Joey Lewis. Clinton Lovingood will serve as honorary pallbearer.
The family will receive friends from 1-2:45 p.m. Thursday at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville prior to the services.
