Clifford Joe Parton
Clifford Joe Parton, 81, of Hayesville, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Clay County Care Center.
He was the son of the late Horace Parton and Madge Anderson Parton. Clifford was a veteran of the United States Air Force and worked at American Thread. Clifford loved God and his family and was a genuine soul who never seemed to meet a stranger. He always had a smile for everyone he met and a story to tell if you had a minute or two. There was always a kind word on his lips and a twinkle in his eye. He lived a life well lived.
He is survived by his wife, Mazelle Parton; daughters, Tonda Reynolds and husband, Michael; Crystal Matheson and husband, Jason; and Abby Parton, all of Hayesville; grandchildren, Brittany Wingate and husband, Todd; D.J. Boone and wife, Chyanne, and Easton Parton; great-granddaughter, Madalynn Nemkovich.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 15 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel of Hayesville. Rev. Wayne Matheson and Rev. Bill Dyer officiated. Special singing was provided by Jimmy and Johnny Hogsed. Burial was at Laurel Hills Memorial Garden in Young Harris, Ga. with military graveside rites being conducted by the VFW Post 10222, Joe Miller Elkins American Legion Post 96 and D.A.V. Chapter 73 and American Legion Post 532 of Hayesville and VFW Post 6812. Pallbearers were Michael Reynolds, Jason Matheson, D.J. Boone, Daniel Nemkovich, Todd Wingate, Chris Phillips, Bob Ledford and Jim Arrowood. Easton Parton was an honorary pallbearer.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, July 14 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel of Hayesville.
