Evelyn Hagler, 77, of Hayesville, formerly of Brandon, Fla., passed away Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018. She was a native of Brandon, but lived in Hayesville for the past seven years. With God’s help, Evelyn overcame life’s challenges and in turn, gave guidance and counsel to countless others throughout her life. Evelyn was a naturally gifted artist, who enjoyed plastic canvas art. She also enjoyed baking cakes for her friends and family.
She was the daughter of the late Gilbert Duncan and Lucille Amerson Hudson and the wife of the late Ernest Gay Hagler, who died July 8, 1977. She was also preceded in death by a son, Daryll Gay Hagler; and a sister, Dovie Eiland.
Surviving are two daughters, Crystal West, of Lithia, Fla. and Angela Brunelle and husband, Tim, of Timberlake, N.C.; a son, Gregg Hagler and wife, Jennifer, of Hayesville; a sister, Kathleen Tyson, of Bartow, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Candi Weintraub, Michael and Ryan Hagler, Rachael Welch, Beca Worden, Vicki Pope, Seth Jennings and Noah and Joshua Brunelle; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Zach.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21 at Gandy Cemetery in Bartow.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20 at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow.
