Mr. Fairley Holden, 63, of Hiawassee, Ga., passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019, following a brief illness.
Fairley was born on Feb. 20, 1956 in Hayesville to the late Plez and Ruby Anderson Holden. He loved his Lord and his family. Always supportive, cheerful and joyful. He was loved dearly by his family and friends. Fairley was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Highly respected, Fairley was employed as a Heavy Equipment Operator for 30 years at Vulcan Materials in Clayton, Ga. As a staunch warrior for God, he was supportive in food banks and active in helping others. He was a member and regular attendee at First Free Will Baptist Church. He was a big guy with a big heart.
Fairley will be warmly remembered by all who knew him. He will be especially missed by his loving wife, Sherry Holden; children, Jeff and Amanda Holden and Sara Ledford; grandchildren, Adam, Andrew and Aaron Holden and Cooper Ledford; siblings, Marilyn and William Long, Opelene and Watson Stephens, Janet and Larry Sams, Kathryn and Charlie Morgan, Jack and Gail Holden, Margo and Benjie Allison and Wanda Cotton. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive and his precious canine, Maggie.
Funeral services were held at 12 p.m. Saturday, March 2 from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Rumfelt officiating. The family received friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the service began. Special music was presented by Matthew Roach.
