Glenda Martin, 65, of Hayesville, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2019 at Chatuge Regional Hospital. As she entered the gates of Heaven, she was surrounded by her loving family. Glenda was a native of Clay County but spent many years raising her family in Gwinnett County, Ga. She returned to her home of Hayesville to enjoy retirement. Glenda was the most devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She spent her days loving and taking care of her family. She loved growing beautiful flowers, spending time with her four grandsons, thrift shopping with her daughters and sisters and was the best cook who kept many people with full bellies.
She was the daughter of the late Rondal and Doris Anderson Ledford.
Surviving are her devoted husband of 48 years, Ronnie Martin; two daughters, Megan Cook and husband, Jason, of Oak Ridge, Tenn. and Sarah Van Nus and husband, Kyle, of Dacula, Ga.; four grandsons, Elijah and Sawyer Cook and Jackson and Ace Van Nus; two sisters, Joyce Thompson and husband, Harold, of Union Point, Ga. and Brenda Ledford, of Hayesville; two brothers, David Ledford and wife, Lannie, and Bobby Ledford, all of Hiawassee, Ga. and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 2 in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with the Revs. Clark Moss and Rob Sizemore officiating. The interment will be in the Old Ledfords Chapel Cemetery with Denver Ledford speaking. Pallbearers will be Elijah Cook, Jackson Van Nus, Sawyer Cook, Ace Van Nus, Francis Beatty, Kevin Umstead, Doug Martin and Charlie Bowen.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m.Wednesday, May 1 at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville.
