Ivey Brown Wingo
Ivey Brown Wingo, of Hiawassee, Ga., died at home on Aug. 30, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Feb. 17, 1948 in DeKalb County, Ga. and lived in Norcross, Ga. for 20 years. He received a Bachelor of Science associate degree at Georgia Tech and was an assistant golf pro at Cherokee Town Club in Atlanta, Ga. Ivey was a veteran of the U.S. Army, served on the U.S. Army Golf Team, was wounded in the Viet Nam War and received a Purple Heart. He spent his business career in the electronics engineering industry, retiring from Pioneer Electronics in 2013.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy Jones Wingo and Betty Rochester Wingo of Norcross, Ga.; sister, Hollis Wingo Krell, of Buford, Ga.
He is survived by a niece, Michele Morgan, of Snellville, Ga.
Ivey was of the Episcopal faith and was a joyful advocate of the Cursillo Fellowship in western North Carolina.
A Celebration of Life was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5 at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, Hayesville.
