Jerry A. Robinson
Jerry A. Robinson, 75, of Hayesville, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2019 in a Clay County care facility.
He was born and raised on the Harshaw Farm in Murphy, but had lived most of his life in Hayesville. Jerry was a Vietnam veteran, who served in the United States Navy from 1963-1967 on the USS Oriskany. He was a dedicated member of Chatuge Assembly of God, where he served as choir director and gladly volunteered to the upkeep of the building and grounds.
Jerry had worked as a deputy for Clay County Sheriff’s department. He loved gardening.
He was the son of Lemma Hedrick, of Gastonia, N.C., and the husband of the late Judith Elizabeth Patterson Robinson, who died Feb. 11, 1987. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Judy Stiles Robinson; and two brothers, Eddie and Charles Robinson.
Surviving are a daughter, Amy Lynn Robinson Kirby and husband, Steven, of Hiawassee, Ga.; a son, Scotty Robinson, of Hayesville; a sister, Sheila Porch, of Gastonia; two brothers, Glen and Aggie Hedrick, both of Gastonia; and three grandchildren, Dagen and Danice Robinson and Cale Kirby.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 7 in the chapel of the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with Rev. Aline Mosteller officiating. Inurnment was in Bethel Cemetery with Military Graveside rites conducted by the Hayesville VFW Post 6812 (Allison Bristol); the American Legion Post 96 and Murphy DAV Chapter 73.
The family received friends from 1-1:50 p.m. Sunday at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville prior to the services.
