Joel Kenneth Mayo

Joel Kenneth Mayo, 73, of Hayesville, formerly of Conyers, Ga. passed away Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2022 in a Gainesville, Ga. hospital. Joel lived in Conyers for 36 years and served as Chief Probation Officer for the State of Georgia in Clayton County. He was of the Baptist faith and a Veteran of the United States Army. Joel loved to travel with his wife and he served as vice chairman of the Republican party in Clay County.

He was the only child to the late John Edwin Mayo and Audrey Ethridge Mayo Copeland.

Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Wanda A. Mayo, of Hayesville; mother-in-law, Jackie Anderson; a sister-in-law, Teresa Anderson; brother-in-law, William Timothy “Tim” Anderson, all of Dawsonville, Ga.; also many close friends.

A celebration of Joel’s life will be planned and announced at a later date.
