John Lane Dolvin

John Lane Dolvin, of Hayesville, died on May 18, 2019 at his vacation home in Townsend, Ga. He was a native of Siloam, Ga. 

He was the son of Ralph Walton Dolvin and Virginia Copelan Dolvin. John was a devout Christian and a member of McConnell Baptist Church in Hiawassee, Ga., where he served as a deacon, sang in the choir and sang with “Cheerful Sounds.” He also taught English as a second language program and mentored at Towns County Elementary School. 

He was a graduate of the University of Georgia and taught math at Norcross High School for many years. After that he worked with the Soil Conservation Department in Greensboro, Ga. 

He is survived by his wife, Mary, of 28 years; brother, George Dolvin, of Hayesville; daughters, Judy Naylor and husband, Wayne, of Hayesville, and Sheila McDaniel and husband, Scott, of Covington Ky.; grandchildren, Lee and Melissa Naylor, of Comer,Ga., Clay and Kathleen Naylor, of Dawsonville, Ga., John Richard McDaniel and Hannah Christine McDaniel, of Covington; great-grandchildren, Addison, Anslie, Ava, Ashtyn and Austyn Naylor, of Comer, and three nieces and other beloved relatives.

Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 28 at McConnell Baptist Church in Hiawassee. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at McConnell Baptist Church. Graveside service will be held In Norcross, Ga. at Peachtree Memorial Gardens.
