Keith Patton, 58, of Hayesville, passed away Sunday, Sept. 1, 2019 at his residence. He was born in Habersham County, Ga., but was raised in Clay County from the age of two. He was a 1979 graduate of Hayesville High School and played in the band in both high school and college. He graduated from Western Carolina University, receiving his master’s degree in public health and administration. Keith worked in several states but the majority of his work took place in North Carolina as a health administrator. He attended the United Methodist Church. Keith was a charter member of the Franklin County Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed restoring furniture and photography.
He is the son of Jane Dailey Patton, of Hayesville, and the late Richard J. Patton, who died Feb. 6, 2018.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Kathy Patton; a son, Richard L. Patton, of Oxford, N.C.; and a niece and a nephew.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4 in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with the Rev. Jackie Sellers officiating. The interment was in Union Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were John B. Patton, Timothy Hall, Mike Hedden, Jimmy Patton and Mitchell Dayton.
The family received friends from 2-2:45 p.m. Wednesday at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville prior to the services.
