Lester Ray ‘Curt’ Worley

Lester Ray “Curt” Worley, 86, of Hayesville, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017 in a Franklin, North Carolina hospital.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Clay County. Curt served in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked for Continental Telephone Company and Murphy Cable Company. Curt decided to begin driving trucks later in life. He was of the Baptist faith. Curt enjoyed ginseng hunting, fishing, camping, and water skiing with his girls.
He was the son of the late Garland and Effie Louiza Swanson Worley. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Worley McTaggart; and four brothers, Billy, Mickey, Chucky, and Harold Worley.
Surviving are three daughters, Cindy Worley, and Denise Nelson and husband, Tim, all of Hayesville, and Gail Owenby and husband, Larry, of Young Harris, Ga.; a sister, Francis Matheson, of Gastonia, N.C.; three brothers, George Worley, of Murphy, and Howard “Buckeye” Worley and Eddie Worley, both of Hayesville; seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A going home party will be held at a later date.
