Miss Marilyn Gordon, 86, passed away after an extended illness on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017 at the Habersham Medical Center. Miss Gordon was born on Dec. 16, 1930 in Beaver, Penn. She attended Beaver High school, graduated from Indiana State University with a teaching degree and obtained a masters degree in learning disabilities at Nova University in Florida. Miss Gordon taught for 38 years in Pennsylvania and Miami, Fla. before retiring to Young Harris, Ga. where she was a member of Sharp Memorial United Methodist Church. She served the Lord for many years as a Stephens Minister. Marilyn belonged to the Red Hats and had been an active member of the Enotah Garden Club.
Miss Gordon was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence “Shad” and Marion McDaniel Gordon and brother, Fred. She is survived by brother, William Gordon and sister-in-law, Marguerite Gordon, of Blairsville; eight nieces and nephews and their children and many addition family members. She loved life and dearly loved her many friends.
A Memorial service will be held at Sharp Memorial United Methodist Church at 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 20. The Reverend David Tinsley and Mr. Jim Barker will officiate. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the Humane Society or Hospice.
