Marvin Hogsed, 83, of Randleman, N.C., passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at his home.
Mr. Hogsed was born in Clay County on April 6, 1936 to Pearl and Lillie Anderson Hogsed. Marvin served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was retired from Asheboro City Schools and was the former principal of Balfour Elementary School, McCrary Elementary School and Guy B. Teachey Elementary School. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by his wife, Gisela Dillenburg Hogsed, sisters, Bernice Burch, Dare Turner and brother, Dave Hogsed. Marvin enjoyed wood working, reading and collecting antique furniture. He also enjoyed gardening and was known as "The Man with the Shovel" at Cross Road Retirement Community.
He is survived by his daughter, Helga H. Simeone and husband, Alan, of Cincinnati, Ohio; son, Gregory M. Hogsed, of Randleman; daughter-in-law, Sharon Hogsed, of Asheboro, N.C.; granddaughter, Savannah Hogsed and brothers, Gerald Hogsed, of Aiken, S.C.; and Bob Hogsed and wife, Roby, of Hiawassee, Ga.
The family will receive friends from 2:30-3:45 p.m. Friday, May 10 at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. with Rev. Doug Hefner officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
