Michael John MacCloud
An amazingly creative, compassionate and energetic soul left this earth on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018 after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest. Michael John MacCloud was born Sep. 1, 1945 in New Brunswick, N.J. to Janice Tuesday and John Vernon McKenna.
Growing up on the Jersey Shore, his zest for life pushed him into a variety of adventures and new challenges. He started and ran many businesses in his life, building each one up with hard work and dedication and selling each once success was attained. His last business venture was creating a mountain vacation paradise, simply called Trout Cove Cabins, in Brasstown.
Mike had many interests outside of work and became a self-taught expert on numerous topics such as mushroom hunting and his own genealogy. He was artistic, creating stone sculptures, drawing and writing poetry and songs plus he supplied the family with his various baked breads. Tennis was a major interest for many years and he played several times a week up until his sudden death.
In 2005, he retired briefly to Tennessee and then to the north Georgia mountains and to be with his tennis pals. Through it all, family was his first priority and he shared an especially close and loving relationship with his 2-year-old grandson, Arlen.
Mike is survived by his wife, of 48 years, Betty Palaima MacCloud, a daughter and son-in-law, Melka and Eric Myers and their son, Arlen Grey Myers, of Blairsville. Also a son, Michael F. MacCloud, and his son, Michael MacCloud Jr., of Georgia, brothers Roderick and Bruce MacCloud, of New Jersey, and a sister Bonnie DeCesare, of Florida. Also several nieces and nephews in Florida, Massachusetts, Connecticut and New Jersey.
The family has planned a Celebration of Life for Mike’s friends and family at 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11 at the Community Center in Blairsville. If you haven’t already, call (865) 585-0027 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org to confirm your attendance.
