Mrs. Fredrica ‘Rica’ Dianne Segars
Mrs. Fredrica “Rica” Dianne Segars, 74, of Bell Creek Road, Hiawassee, Ga., passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by loving family on Sunday July 7, 2019 following an extended illness. Mrs. Segars was born on Sept. 1, 1944 in Albemarle, N.C., the daughter of the late Henry John Rosenkranz and the late Mary Elizabeth Drye Rosenkranz Stewart.
Rica was raised in Clay County and resided there until she married Thomas in 1968 when they moved overseas for 16 years to follow her husband’s military career. She was a registered nurse for many years and loved caring for others. She enjoyed reading and water skiing in her spare time. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. Rica was preceded in death by her parents and also a brother, Louis Howard Rosenkranz, who passed away in 2010. She was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving are her loving husband and best friend of 51 years, Thomas Edward Segars Sr., of Hiawassee; two sons and one daughter in law, Gary Segars, of Hiawassee, and Thomas and Aimee Segars Jr.; one daughter, Michelle Segars, of Las Vegas, Nev.; one brother and sister in law, Henry John and Susan Rosenkranz, of Monroe, Ga.; five grandchildren, Jonathon, Savannah, Garrett, Kaison and Nora, one great-grandchild, Rory, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday July 11 from the Mountain View Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Rogers and Rev. Jackie Sellers officiating. Flowers are accepted or if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in Mrs. Segars memory. The family will meet with friends from 4-5 p.m. at the funeral home on Thursday.
