Paul Kyle Beal, 88, of Suwanee, Ga. and formerly of Hayesville, N.C. passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018.
He was born in Hayesville to the late Ralph Thomas and Bonlyn Scroggs Beal. Kyle was a 1947 graduate of Hayesville High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran; he served in the Korean Conflict as a company clerk to the commanding officer at Fort Hood. Kyle received his bachelor’s degree from Berry College and also received his master’s degree and education specialist degree from Western Carolina University. He was a principal at Andrews, Ranger and Martins Creek Elementary School. Kyle taught eighth grade in Hayesville and was superintendent in Clay County from 1978 to 1981. He was a member of Hayesville First United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Jurell Beal; two sons, Jarrett Beal and Mark Beal; five brothers, Frank, Jarrett, Scott, Johnny and Kent Beal; and three sisters, Hettie Ferrell, Mary Helen Riley and Frances Davis.
He is survived by one daughter, Paula Waldroup and husband Anthony of Suwanee, Ga.; three grandchildren, Amanda Redman and husband Tim, Kyle Waldroup and wife Sarah and Mark Waldroup; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 11 at the Hayesville First United Methodist Church. Rev. Kirk Hatherly will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by the V.F.W. Post #10222, Joe Miller Elkin American Legion Post #96 and D.A.V. Chapter #73 and American Legion Post #532 of Hayesville and V.F.W.Post #6812.
The family will receive friends from 1-2:45 p.m., Sunday, March 11 at the Hayesville First United Methodist Church.
