Rev. Patt Joseph Miller

Rev. Patt Joseph Miller, 80, of Hayesville passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017 in a Chattanooga, Tenn. hospital.
Patt served four years in the United States Navy, nine years as a North Carolina highway patrolman and spent the majority of his life farming. Patt served as a pastor at two churches and lived a lifetime of ministry. Patt actively enjoyed planting, harvesting and sharing the fruits of his labor. One of his greatest pleasures was cooking food and having people enjoy it around his table. His enthusiastic love for his Savior and for life was an inspiration to many people. Patt was eager to work hard and enjoyed playing even harder. Patt was able to do many things well, but he was mainly known for his faithful service to his Savior and generous love for family and friends.
Patt was the son of the late Charles Russell and Eula Vaughn Reece Miller. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard Elmer and Roger Keith and sister, Evelyn Goforth.
Patt was a loving and kind husband to Austella Cabe Miller; and wonderful father to Michael William and wife, Shari, of Hanover, Va. and Kevin Richard and wife, Rebekah of Warne, and others who needed a good fatherly role model. He was an active, fun-loving grandfather to the lives of his nine grandchildren. Also surviving are his sister, Joyce Ware, of Brasstown; and four brothers, Charles Miller, of Houston, Texas, Leonard Miller and wife, Irene, of Warne, Gene Miller of Jasper, Ga. and Bn Lygh and wife, Harriet, of Hayesville; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017 in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with the Rev. Kevin Miller and Michael Miller officiating.
