Steven Todd Lester
Steven Todd Lester, 64, of Mountain City, Tenn., previously of Hayesville, N.C. and Eustis, Fla., passed away on Feb. 2, 2017.
Born in Detroit, Mich. on March 2, 1952, he was the son of the late D. L. Lester, Jr. and Virginia Lester Perrine. Steven graduated from Eustis High School, Eustis, Fla. He attended Florida State University and graduated from Tri-County Community College, Murphy, N.C. He worked in Florida as a mechanic for Almand’s Texaco; served as service manager at Caesar Prado Ford and Willett Oldsmobile Cadillac before opening his own auto repair shop: The Car Doctor in Eustis, Fla.
He was active for years in community theatre in Eustis and Mount Dora. In 1994 he moved to Hayesville. He became a member of the Clay County Volunteer Fire Department and an EMT. In 1998 he became a registered nurse and began working in the medical/surgical department of Angel Medical Center in Franklin, N.C. In 2012 he worked at Chatuge Regional Hospital, Hiawassee, Ga. In 2013, he worked at Clay County Care Center. Steven moved to Mountain City, with his wife in 2016.
Surviving are his wife, Janis Turner Lester; sons, Christopher Todd Lester, of Jensen Beach, Fla., Joshua Page and Matthew Daniel Lester, of Eustis, FL; daughters, Mariah Lester, of Mount Dora, Fla., Cassandra Lester (Tom) Minter, of Columbus, Ohio and Melissa Lester (Charles) Higgins. of Winnetka, Ill. Surviving brothers are Donald L. (Linda) Lester III, of Leesville, S.C., Richard Michael (Janine) Lester, of Mount Dora, Fla.; 13 grandchildren. He is predeceased by a son Jeremiah Dillard Lester.
There will be a Celebration of Steven’s life at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 at the home of Ron and Sherry Fort, 20931 Reedy Road (off Thrill Hill) in Eustis, Fla.
