Virginia R. Robbins
Virginia R. Robbins, 97, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Friday Aug. 10, 2018 with her family by her side.
She was originally from Crescent City, Fla., then Tallahassee, Fla., where she raised her children, and then Atlanta, Ga., joining her daughters.
Robbins was born April 9, 1921 and resided in Hayesville for nearly 10 years. She was a former executive secretary for the director of the Florida Securities Commission.
Robbins was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Otis Reynolds and Ethel Lynch; her second husband, Tom Robbins and her first husband, L.G. Smith; and by a sister, Dorothy Stockton.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Karen Lawrence and husband, Richard, of Franklin, N.C.; Ivy Hogsed and husband, Chet, of Hayesville; son, Larry Smith and wife, Jane, of Tallahassee, Fla.; a step-son, Nick Robbins and wife, Cindy, of Crystal River, Fla.; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family is deeply appreciative of the care given Virginia by Melanie Patterson, Kathy Worley, Sherry Holder and Linda Garrett, as well as the staff at Four Seasons Hospice.
There will be a private memorial service in Florida at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Truett Baptist Children’s Home, 75 West Vineyard Lane, Hayesville, NC, 28904.
