William Herbert Quillen Jr.
William Herbert Quillen Jr., 85, of Young Harris, Ga., passed away on Sept. 25, 2018 in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
William H. Quillen Jr. was born in McRoberts, Ky. to William “Herbert” Quillen Sr. and Thelma Harlow Quillen on Aug. 3, 1933. He attended school at Fleming-Neon High School. He married Cora Alice Hileman on April 13, 1954 in Wise, Va. He was employed by General Motors Corp. Delco-Moraine Division in Dayton, Ohio.
He was an active member and deacon of Truett Baptist Church in Hayesville. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Harrogate, Tenn. and became a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason on May 6, 1978. He was a Past Master of the lodge. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to bring friends and family into his world outdoors.
William H. Quillen Jr. was preceded in death by his son Kenneth R. Quillen and his brother James G. Quillen. He is survived by his dear wife, Cora Alice Quillen; his son Timothy Quillen and wife, Marsha; his daughter-in-law, Kenda Quillen; his dear brothers and sisters, Janet Tackett, Carrie Barker, George Quillen, Ann McGeorge and Don Quillen and wife, Jackie; and his beloved grandchildren Matthew, Hamp, Will, Charles, Jonathan and Brittany.
Visitation was held from 12-2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29 at Holding Funeral Home in Big Stone Gap, Va. Funeral services were held 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 29 at Holding Funeral Home, with the Rev. Donald Robbins of the Stickleyville Baptist Church officiating. Entombment followed at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens.
