Doug Ossman

Doug Ossman, 89, of Hayesville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Thursday, Feb. 13 at his home. He was a native of Nyack, N.Y. and worked as a civil engineer for the New York Department of Transportation for more than 33 years. He had retired to New Bern, N.C.

Rosemary Naff Stevens

Rosemary Naff Stevens, 91, formerly of Boones Mill, Harrisonburg, Lynchburg, Roanoke, Atlanta and Burlington passed away Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2020 at North East Georgia Medical Center.  Born in Boones Mill, Va. on Nov. 5, 1928 she was the daughter of the late Wesley Washington Naff, Sr.

Leeola Robinson McClure

Leeola Robinson McClure, 82, of Hayesville, passed away Thursday, Feb. 6, 2020 following an extended illness. She was a native and lifetime resident of Clay County. She had worked for Clay County Social Services for many years until her retirement.

Howard Matheson

Howard Matheson, 88, of Hayesville, was called home by the Lord Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2020. He was a native and lifetime resident of Clay County. Howard had worked as a truck driver for more than 30 years with Duncan Oil. He loved to play the fiddle and enjoyed listening to bluegrass music.

Gene Boyd Penland

Gene Boyd Penland, 75, of Hiawassee, Ga. passed away at home with his family by his side Feb. 3, 2020.  Gene was born Sept. 25, 1944 to the late JD and Hazel Hunter Penland. Gene was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church, a former Mason and a member of the Georgia Sheriffs' Association.

Jeanette Donaldson Smith Teems

Jeanette Donaldson Smith Teems, 70, of Hayesville, passed away Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020 at her residence. She was a native and lifetime resident of Clay County.  A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6 at Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with Rev Jim Pressley officiating.

Charles Warren Smith

Mr. Charles Warren Smith, 91, a native of Clay County who lived most of his life in Toccoa, Ga. passed away Jan. 30, 2020 at the Oaks at Scenic View in Baldwin, Ga. A son of the late Leonard and Hubbie Ruth Moore Smith, Mr. Smith was born June 11, 1928 in the Tusquittee Township.

Juanita Hendrix Martin

Juanita Hendrix Martin, 82, of Hayesville, passed away peacefully surrounded by family Sunday, Feb. 02, 2020 in an Asheville hospital. She was a native and lifetime resident of Clay County. Juanita was a devout member of Oak Forest United Methodist Church.
