John Abe Zimmerman, 77, of Hayesville, passed away Monday, Sept. 5, 2022 at his home after an extended illness. He was the son of the late Carl and Norma Mashburn Zimmerman. John had worked many years with the NCDOT. He graduated from Murphy High School in 1963.

Lois Ann Killian Kirby

Lois Ann Killian Kirby, 80, of Hayesville, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Bert William and Carrie May Dowell Killian. She worked with ACI Electronics in shipping. Lois enjoyed quilting, camping, flower gardening and word searches.

Oscar Garrett

Oscar Garrett, 93, of Copperhill, Tenn. formerly of Warne, passed away Sunday, Aug. 28, 2022 in a Murphy care facility. He was a native of Cherokee County and moved to Warne in 1956. Oscar had served in the United States Army and was a Korean War Veteran being stationed in Korea for 16 months.

JoAnn C. Reitz

Judy Melinda Patton Gentle

Judy Melinda Patton Gentle, 54, of Hayesville, passed away on Friday, Aug. 19, 2022. Judy was born in Hiawassee, Ga. to the late Ralph and Annie Mae Allen Patton. She had been a head start teacher for 28 years which she loved.

Annie Louise Hall Canup

Annie Louise Hall Canup, 92, of Hayesville, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 18, 2022. Annie was the wife of the late Marvin Edgar Canup. She was born in Clay County to the late Avery and Maggie Matheson Hall. She was a homemaker. Annie enjoyed reading and doing word search puzzles.

Sandra Navarre

Sandra Navarre, 83, of Hayesville, passed away Thursday, Aug. 18, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born Aug. 18, 1939 in Toledo, Ohio and lived in Ft. Myers, Fla. for 20 years before moving to Hayesville in 2004.

Julius Lee Hogsed

Julius Lee Hogsed, 66, of Forest City, N.C., formerly of Clay County, passed away on Aug. 6, 2022 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center. Julius was preceded in death by his parents Allen and Mildred Hogsed.
