Charlotte Jean Mitchell, 84, of Hayesville, passed away Sunday, Aug. 14, 2022 at a Clay County Care facility. She was a native of Elizabeth, N.J. and moved to Clay County in 2010. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ruby Jane Myers Morrison.

Carol Anne Lamb Ball

Carol Anne Lamb Ball, born Feb. 2, 1948, ended a stoic bout with leukemia and other health issues on Monday, Aug. 15, 2022. She was proudly a “mountain girl” and a graduate of Highlands High School and Western Carolina University.

Alda Robinson Nichelson

Alda Robinson Nichelson, 86, of Pasadena, Texas, formerly of Clay County, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, Aug. 8, 2022. She was born on Nov. 12, 1935.

Larry E. Monkus

Mr. Larry E. Monkus, 73, of Hayesville, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2022 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Ga. Larry was born April 6, 1949 in Hayesville to Arvil Monkus and Ruby Canup Monkus. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Phyllis Fuss Hilliard

Mrs. Phyllis Fuss Hilliard, 78, of Warne, N.C. passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022. She was born to the late Mr. Roy Lewis and Mrs. Mary Lee Morris Fuss on Oct. 28, 1943 in Decatur, Ga. She was a member of New Life Church in Hayesville.

Michael J. 'Mike' Hester

Timothy Francis Bryant

Tim Bryant, 67, formerly of Ranson, W.V., passed away under the care of hospice in his mother’s home in Hayesville on July 21, 2022. Tim was the third child born to Nancy Corbin Bryant and the late William Bryant. Tim graduated high school in Clarke County, Va.

Leon J. Martin

Cynthia Lennertz, 81, of Hayesville, formerly of Boynton Beach, Fla., passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on July 14, 2022 after a brave battle with cancer. She is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, David; children, Donna Sotillo (Mauricio), of West Palm Beach, Fla.
