Charlene Quinn Salzer, 74, passed away Thursday morning, June 30, 2022. She is survived by her husband, Ron, of 27 years; a brother in Illinois, a brother and sister in Colorado and a sister in Massachusetts.

Edward A. Oberzut

Edward A. Oberzut, 87, a resident of Hiawassee, Ga., passed away at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Ga. on May 21 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Eileen Blalock Oberzut with whom he enjoyed 21 years of marriage. He was born in Lowell, Mass. on Aug. 28, 1934.

Dr. Vickie G. Hunt

Joan “Joann” Matheson, 82, of Hayesville, was promoted to her eternal heavenly home, surrounded by loving family, on Thursday, June 23, 2022. Joann was born in the Shooting Creek area to the late Wade and Faye Hooper Moss.

Mary Jo Atkinson Locklear

Mary Jo Atkinson Locklear, 83, of Hayesville, passed away Friday, June 17, 2022 in a Clay County care facility. Mary Jo was a native of Atlanta, Ga. and lived most of her life in Gainesville, Fla. before moving to Hayesville in 2006. She enjoyed being a wife, mother and grandmother.

Joseph Leo Price II

Joseph Leo Price II, 38, of Hayesville, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2022 at his residence. Born July 30, 1983 in Statesboro, Ga. to Carolyn Sue Price, of Hayesville, and the late Joseph Leo Price. Leo lived most of his life in Hayesville.

Jarvis Worth Palmer

Jarvis Worth “Jay” Palmer, 89, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 with his family at his bedside in Birmingham, Ala. He was born on Sept. 13, 1932 in Hayesville. Jay was a 1950 graduate of Hayesville High School.

William Matthew Benefield

Mr. William Matthew Benefield, 37, of Tequila Heights, Sylva, N.C. formerly of Hayesville, passed away peacefully on Monday June 6, 2022 at his home following a brief illness. Mr. Benefield was born on June 22, 1984 in Miami, Fla., the son of Guillermo Mateo and the late Dianne Benefield.

Richard Odis Baine Honeycutt, 24, of Centreville, Va. and formerly of Hayesville passed away Monday, June 6, 2022. He was born in Catawba County, N.C. to Jimmy Honeycutt and wife, Lisa, of Bristol, Tenn. and his mother, Denise Honeycutt, of Hiawassee, Ga.
