Fear-based message at the root of politics
Fear in politics: America is dying, enormous debt, government regulations, bleeding from social programs with an insatiable populace crying for more, free health care, free schooling, an inoperable cancer of unfunded liabilities and all this in the last eight years. If you believe this, I will sell you a castle in the sky.
America may be deeply troubled, but it is hardly from the reasons listed above or in previous articles of fear. You have only to watch network news to hear this same message echoed in the same fear-based message: too much money to the poor and aging and health care for all — too much money to education, too many regulations, especially on the rich and too many regulations on guns — sounds like a plan for a libertarianism.
“Libertarians seek to maximize autonomy and freedom of choice, emphasizing political freedom, voluntary association and the primacy of individual judgment.” Many of us are retired; we have raised our children, found our “Shangri-La” but do we really want to limit the growing families within our community? No taxes, no regulations, no public education, no social programs, failing infrastructure. Is this a place you would really want to live?
