Anderson sneaks by Deal for late model victory
The greatest battle at Tri County Racetrack so far this season has been between track promoter Ray Cook and the weather. On Friday, May 4 race fans invaded Brasstown under a picture perfect sky and with temperatures in the upper 70’s. Hopes of a championship began as drivers were awarded points for the first time in 2018.
As usual the Street Stock division kicked off the feature races for the evening. Marlin Gunter brought his new-look purple Camaro off of turn four in the pole position and pressed the loud pedal to get the race underway.
Michael Harper wasted no time in his pursuit of two wins in a row and grabbed the lead as the field rocketed down the backstretch. While Harper was able to pull away slightly, the rest of the pack raced side-by-side as they jockeyed for position. Bumpers were tested and fenders were bent in the caution-riddled race before the checkered flag fell, giving Harper the win with Evan Wrinkle Jr. crossing the line in second and Jacob Lynch coming in third.
