Thursday Night Thunder wild in Brasstown

After having two events cancelled due to bad weather on Friday nights, Tri County Racetrack promoter Ray Cook decided to change things up and held an installment of Thursday Night Thunder. Not only did the event happen under a beautiful sky but it was filled with edge-of-your-seat drama.

Chaos began even before the feature events took the green flag. In a Modified Hobby qualifying race, Greg Suddereth found himself uninjured but upside down after contact with Danny McLeod sent Sudderth’s No. 34 into the front stretch wall and over on its top. Another scary moment came during Limited Late Model qualifying. Defending track champion Wesley English drifted high in the exit of turn four and clipped the wall with his right-rear fender. This turned English head-on towards the wall. Momentum sent his car into the wall and up the banking before coming to a rest. English was able to back his machine off the wall but damage ended his night early.
