Hayesville track teams sweep Andrews meet

as the high school Yellow Jackets track teams firing on all cylinders this season. In their meet in Andrews Wednesday, April 6, the hard work and determination paid off with a clean sweep. Both the men’s and women’s teams came away with team wins and several strong individual performances.
Women’s top team finishes: 4x100 meter relay, third place; 4x200 meter relay, second place; 4x400 meter relay, second place; 4x800 meter relay, second place.
Women’s top individual performances:
Claire Hendrix: 100 meter, first place; triple jump, first place; 200 meter, second place; long jump, first place.
Madi Crisler: discus throw, third place.
Nikki Smith: 800 meter, first place.
Morgan Dudley: 800 meter, second place; 400 meter, second place.
Bethany Anderson: 800 meter, third place.
Kimonta Lloyd: shot put, second place.
Mariah Hodges: 1600 meter run, third place; 3200 meter run, third place.
Bree Anderson: 400 meter, first place.
Emma Cox: 200 meter, first place; high jump, third place.
Sydney Davis: high jump, second place.
Men’s top team finishes: 4x100 meter relay, first place; 4x200 meter relay, third place; 4x400 meter relay, second place; 4x800 meter relay, second place.
Men’s top individual performances
Brian Smith: 100 meter, first place; 200 meter, first place.
Logan Cowart: discus throw, first place; shot put, third place.
Logan Thurmond: discus throw, third place.
William Fulford: 110 meter hurdles, first place.
Adam Urbaniuk: 800 meter run, first place; 1600 meter run, first place.
Wes Fulford: 300 meter hurdles, third place.
Gavin Morgan: 1600 meter run, third place; 3200 meter run, first place.
Hunter Reaux: triple jump, first place; 400 meter, first place; long jump, first place.
Stone Follari: triple jump, second place.
Isaac Nicholson: 3200 meter run, second place.
Moss shared his thoughts after the meet saying, “I am extremely proud of both teams this year. We seem to have a different mindset his year. Our track team has bought in to our program and are working hard to achieve their goals. This family-like atmosphere is encouraging for me as a coach. Everyone is working hard at practice and the results are starting to show.”
The Hayesville High School varsity teams will return from spring break with a meet in Robbinsville on Wednesday, April 20.
