Then on Friday, Dec. 2, the Yellow Jackets traveled to Hiwassee Dam and picked up their second win 57-43.
In the first game of the season, it was clear the Highlanders were set on upsetting the favored Yellow Jackets. Hayesville pulled ahead early but Highlands clawed back and eventually took the lead.
The Yellow Jackets, led by Josh Cottrell, managed to regain momentum for good. In the 71-63 win, Josh set a new Hayesville record for most points in a game with 42. The record was previously held by Sean Rumfelt.
