JV Lady Jackets take two wins
The JV Lady Jackets continue to be a force in the Smoky Mountain Conference. Hayesville added to its win total with a 10-9 win over Rosman and downed Murphy 6-1.
It was a battle of the bats when the Lady Jackets faced the Lady Tigers of Rosman. Bailey King led the fight for Hayesville going 2-2 with a double, triple, two runs scored and three RBI’s. Jenna Coker also had a solid game going 2-3 with a double and drove in the winning run.
Hillary Owens made several great plays in the field while Makayla Anderson had just enough left in the tank from the pitching rubber to keep Hayesville within striking distance.
Post game, coach Chad McClure said, “We got out to a good lead and let Rosman come back but I was proud of the girls for never giving up and battling until the end.”
It was a totally different type of game when the Lady Jackets hosted Murphy. Anderson and Jaquelyn Stewart had great performances from the pitching rubber. The pitchers combined to allow only three hits.
On offense, Hayesville played small ball to bring home six runs. Anderson topped the hit category with three while Jadrian Graper went 2-3 and scored a run. The 6-1 win over their chief rival was a great way for the team to head into spring break.
