Lady Jackets go toe-to-toe with top team in the state

The Lady Yellow Jackets had a tough week as they faced off with the number one team in the state at Hiwassee Dam and hosted the Lady Black Knights of Robbinsville. Hayesville played the Lady Eagles tough but ultimately lost 6-2. Against Robbinsville, the Lady Jackets produced more runs but again came up short with a 13-8 loss.
Junior pitcher Lindsey Davis threw an outstanding game when the Lady Jackets took on the Lady Eagles in Hiwassee Dam. Davis gave up six runs on nine hits with no walks and five strikeouts. Holding the top team in the state to six runs gave Hayesville an excellent opportunity to shock Hiwassee Dam. Unfortunately for the Lady Jackets, their offense came up short. Kaitlyn Edwards and Hannah Mixon did their part with doubles and Mixon knocking in an RBI. Freshman Rebecca Cothren added another Hayesville run with an RBI. Both Lady Jacket runs came in the final inning. The rally was short lived and Hiwassee Dam ended the inning to secure the 6-2 win.
