Lady Jackets out of playoffs
The roller coaster ride that was the 2016 Lady Yellow Jacket softball season has ended at the hands of Smoky Mountain Conference opponent Robbinsville. Hayesville traveled to Robbinsville to take on the Lady Black Knights in the first round of the state softball tournament. The Lady Jackets were unable to get anything going offensively and ended the season with a 10-0 loss.
Throughout the season, Hayesville’s offense has battled stagnant performances. That demon raised its ugly head in the opening game of the playoffs with the Lady Jackets managing only two hits in the game. Those hits came from the bats of senior Kaitlyn Edwards and junior Lindsey Davis.
Davis started the game in the pitching circle and held Robbinsville to three earned runs on eight hits and one walk. Jacquelyn Stewart came on in relief allowing no hits and walked one Lady Knight batter.
