Madden wins Spring Nationals event

Chris Madden of Gray Court, S.C. took the lead away from Dale McDowell on lap 24 and never looked back en route to his second-career Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals Series victory at Volunteer Speedway Saturday night.
Madden’s second Spring Thaw, worth $10,000, came while piloting the Century Plastics, Henderson Amusement, Crowder Trucking, Allstar Performance, Stroble Mini Storage-sponsored Clements Racing Engines-powered Longhorn Chassis.
The 60 lapper saw Rick Eckert and Dale McDowell bring the field to life for the start of the main event. McDowell jumped to the early lead but as he began to work lapped traffic around lap-11, he had some company. Eckert closed the gap for the second spot, but lurking in the short distance was fourth-starting Chris Madden who eventually made the pass for second position on Eckert on lap-14 and now had his sights set on the lead position.
