Spring sports gets under way at park
Saturday, April 2 marks the kick off of spring sports at the Clay County Recreation Department. Clay County will have 19 baseball and softball teams and 10 soccer teams. Ages four-12 will take the fields and give it their all. More than 40 percent of eligible Hayesville students are participating in recreation sports this year. This is in addition to the middle school and high school teams that use the park for their games and practices as well.
This year fans may notice some changes in the park. Brand new scoreboards will be up and running for the 2016 season. The wireless, LED boards will add a fresh look to the park. These state of the art boards were acquired 100 percent with community support. No tax dollars were spent on the boards. Local business sponsors and some help from Coca-Cola made the upgrade possible. The Clay County Recreation Department would like to thank the local businesses and community for their support this season and in seasons past. Everyone is encouraged to come out and see how the sports programs are growing and to see all the local business support we have. Games start at 11 a.m.
