Due to winter weather’s last gasp before spring, Western Carolina softball’s home-opening doubleheader with Virginia Tech, scheduled for Tuesday, March 15, has been postponed and moved to April 25 with the first game scheduled for 4 p.m.
Frigid temperatures across the region throughout the afternoon on Wednesday prompted officials to make the call on postponing the game.
The postponement will push Western Carolina’s home-opener to March 29 when the Catamounts host Charlotte in a doubleheader slated to begin at 4 p.m. at the Catamount Softball Complex. Prior to WCU’s home game on March 29, WCU will have played 23 games on the road prior to a home contest.
Western Carolina will continue its road swing this weekend playing in the Catamounts’ final regular season tournament of the season. The Catamounts travel to Charleston, S.C. to participate in the Charleston Challenge. WCU will face host College of Charleston and Ohio twice on March 18-19. The Catamounts will match-up with College of Charleston at 11 a.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. WCU will also play Ohio at 4:00 p.m. Saturday and 10:00 a.m. Sunday.
