Looking for some family fun for the Halloween weekend? There are several options over the weekend.

Once again, Clay County Sheriff's Office Cops for Kids 2nd Annual Drive-Thru Trunk or Treat will be the premier event in Clay County. Starting at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, October 30, the announcement says, "Join us for a happy and safe Halloween."  Kids and their families can safely trick or treat from their vehicles as they drive through the parking lot of the Clay County Courthouse.

Also on Saturday evening, October 30, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, or until the candy runs out, all ghouls, goblins are welcome to a fun and candy-filled time. Matt's Ministry will be the site of a Trunk or Treat hosted by Ledford's Chapel UMC. Matt's Ministry is at 123 WJ Cabe Road, just east of Hayesville across Highway 64 from Ledford's Chapel Road.

Bethel Baptist Church will have Trunk or Treat from 5:30 p.m.-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30. Come early and have a free hot dog meal  from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The church is located east of Mountain Harbor Golf Course near Highway 64. Everyone is welcome.

Sunday, October 31 has local events, as well. Those submitted to the newspaper include:

Catalyst Church will host a cruise-in and a Trunk or Treat. Some of the activities will be to raise money to provide children in the community with Christmas gifts. Starting at 3pm, there will be a cruise-in, with an auction to follow at 5 p.m. Auction items range from baked goods to goodie baskets and other items from local businesses. Trunk or Treat for the children begins at 6 p.m. Catalyst Church is at HIghway 64 east across from Downings Creek Road.

Right around the corner, Oak Forest UMC will also hold a drive through Trunk or Treat. From 5p.m. to 7 p.m., attendees can drive through the church parking lot to receive sweets and treats. Oak Forest UMC is at 990 Oak Forest Road at the intersection with Hinton Center Road.

Meadow Grove Baptist Church will host a Fall Carnival. Starting at 5 p.m. Sunday, October 31, there will be games, candy, popcorn and cotton candy. Meadow Grove is at 19 Meadow Grove Lane, off of Fires Creek Road in Hayesville.

With rain in the forecast Saturday, it may be a good idea to check the plans for the sites you're visiting and have candy resrves hidden in the car. Don't want disappointed children!
