Watching "The Polar Express" has become a traditional kick off to the Christmas season in homes across the United States. In Clay County, families can carry-on, or start that tradition in a big way this year. Clay County Communities Revitalization Association will spread some holiday cheer with a free screening of the movie on a 20-foot blow-up projector set up on the Historic Courthouse grounds.

The movie airs Sunday, Dec. 12, immediately following the Clay County Progress’ Hayesville Christmas Parade and pictures with Santa. Near the end of the movie, the official Hayesville Christmas tree will be lit to officially welcome the holiday season.

Bundle up, come to the downtown Hayesville square and warm your hearts with this wonderful holiday classic. CCCRA will sell hot chocolate and snacks throughout the evening. All proceeds and donations directly support CCCRA’s mission to stimulate economic growth, promote the assets and preserve the heritage of Clay County.

Screening of "The Polar Express" is made possible by the Corner Coffee and Wine Shop, Keep Me Posted, Tigers Store and Historic Hayesville Inc., whose sponsorship covered the licensing fee. CCCRA greatly appreciates their support and partnership.

In the event of inclement weather, the screening will follow the rescheduling of the parade.
